Fuel tax credit
How and when do I get the fuels tax credit?
Open

"In Oregon, fuel-powered vehicles are subject to a 40-cent-per-gallon fuels tax, which is automatically included at the pump.

When calculating your road usage charges, we automatically subtract the amount of fuels tax you've already paid—based on your vehicle’s miles-per-gallon—until reaching a zero-dollar balance. (Note: By law, fuels tax credits cannot exceed the total road usage charges.)

You can view a detailed breakdown of these calculations in your NextPass Miles account.

Will I have to pay both the per-mile charge and the fuel tax?
Open

No, you won’t be charged twice. You only pay for the miles you drive, minus the total fuel tax paid.

What happens if I drive out of state?
Open

Miles driven outside the state are exempt from the road usage charge but are subject to fuel tax.

Participants using a GPS reporting option will not pay for miles driven out of Oregon since these are automatically recongized and removed fro your invoice.

Drivers not using a GPS mileage reporting solution should submit an annual refund request directly to ODOT at MyOReGO@odot.state.or.us no later than January 15th of the follwing year (or within 15 months of the payment date).

Recognizing malicious activity is crucial to protecting yourself from potential threats. Here are some signs to watch out for:

  • Unsolicited Requests: Be cautious of unsolicited emails, messages, or phone calls asking for personal information, passwords, or payment details. NextPass Miles will never reach out to ask you to provide personal information through these channels.
  • Requests for Payment or Personal Information: Be wary of requests for payment via untraceable methods like gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency. NextPass Miles only offers secure payment options. We will never ask for passwords, credit card information, or direct payment through links, nor will we use threatening language to solicit information.
  • Unsolicited Remote Access: Do not grant remote access to your computer or devices to unsolicited callers claiming to be tech support or from a reputable company. If you need customer support, always initiate contact through our website, by emailing support@miles.nextpass.io, or give us a call at +1 (888) 320-4337, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST (available in English and Spanish).
  • Too Good to Be True Offers: If an offer seems too good to be true, it likely is. Exercise caution with promises of easy money, prizes, or unrealistic discounts.

Stay Vigilant! Always be on guard and trust your instincts. If something seems suspicious or out of the ordinary, it’s best to verify the source before taking any action. By staying vigilant and informed, you can protect yourself from malicious activities and potential threats.
