Who is eligible for the OReGO program?

Elegibility criteria:

  • The vehicle must be registered with the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
  • Electric, hybrid, diesel and gas-powered vehicles rated at 20 miles per gallon or better, are elegible for the program.
  • The vehicle must be classified as a light-duty passenger vehicle.
  • The person enrolling in the program must be the same individual listed on the vehicle’s title.
How do I receive the DMV registration fee discount when purchasing a new vehicle?

Purchasing a new or used vehicle at a dealership:

  1. Enroll in the OReGO program prior to completing your DMV paperwork and fee submission. We will then send you an enrollment confirmation email.
  2. Provide this email to the dealer and they can then apply the reduced fees and submit the DMV paperwork.

    3. Please note: if you enroll in OReGO after the dealer transaction is submitted, DMV will not issue a refund on fees paid.


    Submitting a change of ownership for a private party transaction:

    1. Enroll in the OReGO program prior to completing your DMV paperwork and fee submission. We will then send you an enrollment confirmation email.

Nevertheless, you still have the option to enroll in the OReGO program at any time and benefit from the DMV registration fee waiver during your next renewal period. Just present the DMV representative with the initial confirmation email you will receive during your next renewal period.

Will I still receive the DMV registration fee discount if I opt out of the OReGO program later?

If you choose to leave the program before completing your registration cycle, you will be required to pay the full registration fee, regardless of when you withdraw.
